Job Description

About Manna

At Manna, our mission is to improve the world by making high-speed suburban deliveries affordable, green, and safe. We design and build our own aviation-grade drones to deliver food and other items directly from restaurants, centralized kitchens, and local stores to consumers’ homes. With a widely dispersed workforce across many sites, you will be joining a company with a great culture for collaboration, lots of learning and even more fun!

About the Role

Flight testing is an integral part of Manna’s durability & reliability program. The Flight Test Supervisor is critical to driving the program forward and ensuring our aircraft reach the required safety levels to operate drone delivery across Ireland and beyond.

The Flight Test Supervisor will report to the Flight-Testing Program Manager and manages a team of UAV pilots. The Flight Test Supervisor is ideally an experienced UAV pilot and can just as easily fly craft as he/she can arrange shift assignments, manage a team, and ensure targets are being met.

Your primary focus is getting the aircraft flying safely and motivating the team to achieve the targets and objectives laid out by the Flight Testing Program Manager. Your days will mainly comprise of managing the team, following all Operational and Flight procedures, reporting bugs/issues and flying the aircraft yourself when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Fly and monitor aircraft in our D&R facility.
  • Manage and shift-assign the team of UAV pilots, ensuring we are meeting volume numbers, as well as being a strong example for junior team members.
  • Lead the training schedule for the new cohort of UAV pilots and ensuring no one is idle on our test site.
  • Stick rigorously to inspection and maintenance schedules details in the Operations Manual.
  • Work closely with the Engineers and report any maintenance or repair required to the drone.
  • Be actively involved in the testing and improvement of new and experimental aircraft, as well as developing the necessary processes and procedures.
  • Ad-hoc & hands-on test execution to support our fast-paced development activities.
  • Contribute to, and improve, the procedures and checks used to work on the aircraft.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead a team
  • Desire to work in a startup environment
  • Interest in drone technology
  • Flexibility on working hours (due to the fact that there are multiple pilot shifts operating on site)
  • Organisation skills (ability to take a test plan, run it and present the results back in a clear and structured way)
