Job Description

Youth Work Ireland Midlands wish to recruit a qualified, experienced Youth Worker to support the existing team in Mullingar Youth Project.  Delivering on the work plan agreed with LWETB and funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Inclusion and Youth under the UBU Your Place Your Space funding scheme.  

Mirroring the overarching goals of UBU – Your Space Your Place, our youth projects provide young person-centred, community-based and out-of-school youth services to young people in need of support” and “ensure that each layer of the governance structure adds value to the direct work with young people”.

The successful candidate will have

  • Min 3 years work experience in a position working with young people at risk, or in marginalised settings
  • A recognised 3rd level qualification in Youth Work or a similar discipline (exceptional and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of 3rd level qualification),
  • Demonstrate an understanding of child safeguarding policies and practices as well as the principles of youth work methodologies in practice.
  • Excellent report writing skills, Strong IT Literacy and Organisation skills
  • Youth work, group work & facilitation, developing, delivering and evaluating non-formal learning and programmes using logic model formats.  
  • Experience of interagency working / community development highly desirable
  • Full driving licence and use of own car is essential.

The hours of work reflect the out-of-school requirements of the programme and will primarily be evenings, weekends and times when young people are available, including public holidays. 

Delivery will be blended between online, outreach and in person youth work.
