Where apprentices and craftspersons have the necessary ability and initiative, opportunities are available for advancement. These include advanced technology courses and management courses which are available in Institutes of Technology, Schools of Management and Professional Institutes.
Many apprentices use their apprenticeship qualification as a platform to launch careers such as engineers, managers, owners of businesses, teachers and instructors amongst others.

The current revolution in automation and digitalisation means that today’s school children will be employed in jobs and industries that are yet to be developed. To make sure we are ready for these opportunities and challenges, the Government is developing our Future Jobs strategy, which will help us to enhance productivity; drive innovation; create the skills and talent for the future; and help us move to a low carbon economy.”
John Hunt, Managing Director and co-owner, TEG said: “This R&D Facility is another stepping stone in the development of the capabilities within TEG. We always prided ourselves on having the best capabilities in our industry. Customers treat TEG as an extension of their engineering department for the duration of a project. We want to bring the best thinking, techniques and products into the company for the benefit of our customers. We can only do that by having the widest range of engineering capabilities available.”
Tommy Kelly, Founder, Co-owner and Business Development Director, TEG added: “This R&D Facility is a significant milestone for TEG, creating a structure for the development of new products. Its focus on innovation and the attainment of internationally-recognised industry accreditations, together with its dedication to nurturing in-house manufacturing skills, positions it well for continued success. Enterprise Ireland looks forward to continued engagement with TEG to support its global ambition.”
