Job Description

Due to continued growth for our client in the Midlands, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Store Manager who will report directly to and support the Store Manager.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the store manager in the delivery of store targets through the effective management of store operations and people management and will take overall responsibility for the operation of the forecourt and shop during the manager’s absence. Specific duties for this role will include:

  • The day to day setting to work and supervision of employees in the shop and forecourt.
  • The management of contractors and other service providers operating on our premises.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of customer service and resolution of any queries or complaints.
  • Training, mentoring and motivation of employees.
  • Performance management for the retail sales team.
  • Ensuring that merchandise is displayed effectively to maximise sales whilst maintaining the highest standards of presentation.
  • Overseeing the shop and forecourt to ensure the highest standards of housekeeping and safety.
  • Communicate with sales teams in relation to stores sales targets and promotions.
  • Ensure that cash handling and security procedures are complied with at all times.
  • Ensure that the food management and waste systems are adhered to at all times and that all opportunities are taken to minimise waste.
  • Maintenance of accurate records in relation to food safety and stock.

The Person:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in a busy retail environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to influence people.
  • Proficiency in basic Excel, Word, and the use of email.
  • A flexible approach in relation to working hours and will be prepared to be flexible to support the business.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Clara offering a competitive remuneration package. The successful candidate will also be enrolled on the company pension scheme.
