What’s the job?

We are currently looking for a HR Generalist to join our HR team in Castlepollard, Westmeath. Reporting to the HR Manager you will be responsible for supporting in the delivery of all HR operational processes from onboarding to offboarding, providing the best possible employee experience.


 Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support on all aspects of the HR function including but not limited to the following;
  • Act as the lead on recruitment process for indirect employee groups and supporting with recruitment process for direct
    employee group as necessary
  • Support with the employee induction phase ensuring a positive onboarding experience for all new joiners to Mergon
  • Drive performance management processes assisting and supporting Line Management / Supervisors where necessary
  • Support on grievance and disciplinary cases to satisfactory resolution
  • Management of all employee benefit programmes with external vendors
  • Management of employee engagement initiatives
  • Reporting of all HR metrics for weekly and monthly management meetings to include but not limited to; employee engagement,
    absenteeism and turnover
  • Act as an advisor to managers on employee relations issues
  • Conduct benchmarking as required
  • Act as a support to the management team in building and enhancing the culture at Mergon
  • Act as an advocate for the Mergon values and cultures in all elements of work conducted as part of the role


Who we’re looking for?


  • Proven working experience as a HR Generalist with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience 
  • A third-level degree in HR and / or a CIPD qualification
  • Excellent knowledge of Irish employment law and HR metrics
  • Familiarity with HR systems and software
  • Competence in building and managing interpersonal relationships at all levels
