Utility Surveyor Assistant

As a Utility Surveyor Assistant, you will support utility surveyors in the accurate detection, mapping, and documentation of underground utilities. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of construction and excavation projects. You will work closely with experienced surveyors, using a range of specialised equipment and technologies to identify and record the positions of utilities like gas, water, electricity, and telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist utility surveyors in fieldwork, including setting up and operating surveying equipment.
• Conduct on-site utility surveys using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), electromagnetic locators, and other detection tools.
• Accurately document the location and depth of underground utilities.
• Assist in the preparation of detailed survey reports and maps.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
• Maintain and care for surveying equipment.
• Support the survey team with data collection, data entry, and basic analysis.
• Communicate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients.

Qualifications:.

• Basic understanding of surveying principles and practices is preferred.
• Familiarity with utility detection equipment (GPR, electromagnetic locators) is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under supervision.
• Good physical condition, able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different project sites as needed.
