Job Description

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to begin a placement in January.

The Role

Joining MTM Engineering as an intern means gaining hands‑on experience in electrical design and coordination while learning directly from industry experts. You will be immersed in real projects, supported by experienced engineers, and exposed to the tools, standards, and practices that shape mission‑critical construction across Europe.

This internship is designed to help you:

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers and design teams in reviewing technical specifications and exploring engineering solutions

  • Support the production of electrical design layouts and technical drawings for containment systems and cable routing

  • Help troubleshoot design challenges under guidance from senior engineers

  • Learn to extract measurements from BIM models (Revit/Navisworks) and apply them to design layouts

  • Use BIM software to support coordination checks and site requirement assessments

  • Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation including plans, schedules, and cost estimates

  • Assist in maintaining technical submittals, equipment registers, and approval trackers

  • Participate in design and installation quality checks to understand project standards

  • Gain exposure to MTM’s internal electrical design standards, templates, and best practices

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to develop professional skills and industry knowledge

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

  • Strong interest in electrical design and coordination, with a willingness to learn in industrial or data centre environments

  • Familiarity with BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) is an advantage

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Fluent in English (minimum C1 level), both written and spoken

  • Right to work Full-Time, without restrictions in Ireland
