Stephens Cooke are recruiting for the position of Accounts Technician. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior accounting team to provide essential financial support and maintain a high standard of accuracy for our client portfolio.
Accounts Preparation: Assist in the preparation of draft financial statements and year-end audit files for a diverse range of clients.
Taxation Support: Preparation of VAT returns, RCT, and assisting in the collation of data for personal and corporate tax filings.
Bookkeeping & Management Accounts: Maintain accurate books of prime entry and assist in the production of monthly/quarterly management accounts.
Payroll Administration: Process weekly and monthly payroll for clients, ensuring compliance with current revenue legislation.
Client Liaison: Act as a reliable point of contact for clients regarding day-to-day queries on bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and software support.
File Management & Compliance: Ensure all client working paper files are maintained to a high standard and comply with internal quality control procedures.
Systems Management: Updating and maintaining client data within internal CRM and accounting software systems.
Professional Qualification: Accounting Technician (ATI) qualified or currently pursuing a professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CPA/CIMA).
Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a fast-paced professional practice environment.
IT Skills: Strong proficiency in IT is essential. Previous experience with Relate, Surf, Xero, or Sage will be considered a distinct advantage.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and financial reporting is a core requirement for this role.
The ideal candidate should be highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple deadlines on their own initiative. Strong communication skills are vital, as you will be expected to build and maintain professional relationships with our clients.
