We are partnering with a well-established and growing construction and civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper for their team in Cavan. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, multi-site business where you'll play a key role in managing the day-to-day finance function within a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a detail-oriented finance professional with strong accounting experience who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and thrives in a busy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently.
  • Reconcile supplier statements on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor and maintain the debtors ledger.
  • Prepare weekly payment schedules and process bank payments.
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE and RCT through ROS.
  • Manage the finance inbox, ensuring all documentation is processed promptly and supplier queries are resolved efficiently.
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll.
  • Manage employee timesheets and expense claims.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team as required.

Skills and Experience:

  • 2–5 years' experience in a similar bookkeeping or accounts role.
  • Strong accounts payable and purchase ledger experience within a high-volume environment.
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable, payroll and banking procedures.
  • A good understanding of VAT and RCT.
  • Experience using QuickBooks or a similar accounting software package.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
  • Experience within the construction industry would be an advantage but is not essential.
