Location: Westmeath 
Employment Type: Full-time 
Hours: 7:30-16:30 
Annual Leave: 20 days per year, plus public holidays 


About the Role 
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Tarmacadam Operative to join our team. 
The successful candidate will work as part of a groundworks/roadworks team, carrying 
out tarmacadam and asphalt works to a high standard while maintaining a strong focus 
on safety and quality. 


Key Responsibilities 
• Carry out tarmacadam and asphalt laying works on roads, driveways, footpaths 
and other surfaces.  
• Prepare surfaces prior to tarmacadam application, including cleaning, levelling 
and basic groundwork.  
• Operate hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.  
• Rake, level and finish tarmacadam to the required specification.  
• Assist with loading, unloading and transporting materials and equipment.  
• Work alongside excavator, roller and other plant operators as required.  
• Follow site plans, instructions and specifications.  
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.  
• Complete work to agreed quality standards and timescales.  
• Comply with all company health & safety procedures and site requirements.  


Requirements 
• Previous experience in tarmacadam, asphalt, road surfacing or general 
groundworks is desirable.  
• Good understanding of construction site health and safety.  
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.  
• Reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team.  
• Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.  
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.  
• Safe Pass certification is desirable/required.  
• Manual Handling certification is desirable.  
• Full driving licence is an advantage.
