Yard Operative

Our client is seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join their busy engineering company. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the yard, ensuring materials, equipment, and deliveries are handled safely and efficiently. A valid forklift ticket is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Load, unload, move, and store materials safely within the yard
• Operate a forklift in a safe and competent manner
• Assist with goods inwards and goods outwards
• Organise stock, materials, and equipment in the yard
• Prepare orders and materials for dispatch or collection
• Keep the yard clean, tidy, and safe at all times
• Carry out manual handling duties as required
• Assist workshop and engineering staff with general yard support
• Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies

Requirements

• Valid forklift licence / forklift ticket is essential
• Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or industrial environment is desirable
• Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing setting is an advantage
• Good awareness of health and safety practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
• Good communication skills
• Ability to carry out physical work and manual handling tasks
