On behalf of our client in the public health sector, we are seeking a Fire Prevention Officer to join a busy Capital & Estates team. This role is essential in ensuring fire safety compliance across healthcare facilities and safeguarding staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections of buildings, fire safety systems, and escape routes
- Develop and maintain fire safety procedures and evacuation plans
- Deliver fire safety training and coordinate fire drills
- Identify fire risks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, incidents, and drills
- Provide expert advice on fire safety standards and regulations
- Support risk assessments, audits, and safety improvement initiatives
- Liaise with contractors, fire services, and internal stakeholders
RequirementsEssential
- Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in:
- Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety, or Building Services
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar fire safety role
OR
- Level 6 qualification with 4 years’ relevant experience (public sector applicants)
Desirable Experience
- Fire risk assessments
- Delivering fire safety training
- Preparing fire safety certificate applications
- Experience in healthcare, construction, or facilities management
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation and building regulations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office)
