Job Description

AllPro Recruitment is currently recruiting Care Assistants on behalf of our client for Community and Residential Intellectual Disability (ID) Services.

As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives while promoting independence, dignity, and person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on the service setting and may include:

  • Delivering assigned and delegated care tasks under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) or Nurse in Charge (NIC).
  • Supporting service users with personal care, hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Assisting in the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with the service's philosophy of care.
  • Supporting the CNM/NIC with the day-to-day management of the ward, unit, or residential environment.
  • Encouraging social inclusion, community participation, and engagement in meaningful activities.
  • Treating all service users with dignity, respect, courtesy, and professionalism at all times.
  • Acting as an advocate for service users, residents, and their families.
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary assessments and care plans, and supporting their implementation and review.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation where required.
  • Attending team meetings and contributing positively to service delivery.
  • Ensuring all information is handled confidentially and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with meal preparation and supporting service users with mealtimes as required.
  • Managing laundry and linen in accordance with local policies and guidelines.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention throughout the service.
  • Ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents and service users.
  • Accompanying residents to therapies, appointments, and community activities, providing feedback to nursing staff as appropriate.

Requirements

Applicants must possess one of the following:

  • QQI/FETAC Level 5 in Healthcare Support, including:
    • Intellectual Disability Studies Module
    • Activities of Daily Living Module

OR

  • QQI/FETAC Level 5 in Health Service Skills, including:
    • Intellectual Disability Studies Module
    • Activities of Daily Living Module

OR

  • A relevant healthcare qualification deemed equivalent to the above.
