Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital pharmacy team in Dundalk for a six-week period of illness cover. This is a part-time role, working approximately 2–3 days per week in a busy hospital environment.

The successful candidate will support the pharmacy team in the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services to patients and hospital departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with dispensing and supply of medications under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy stock levels and rotation of stock.
  • Prepare and assemble ward and departmental medication orders.
  • Receive and process pharmaceutical deliveries and invoices.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with hospital procedures.
  • Liaise effectively with pharmacists, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe dispensary environment.
  • Support the pharmacy team with general departmental duties as required.

Hospital pharmacy technicians commonly support dispensary services, stock management and ward supply activities while working closely with pharmacists and clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician with a recognised pharmacy technician qualification.
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience in Ireland.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Information

  • This position is available for an initial 6-week illness cover period commencing in early August.
  • Candidates available for the full duration are preferred.
