Social Worker

Job Description

On behalf of our client in public health, we are seeking a motivated and compassionate Social Worker to join the Safety & Welfare Team based in Louth. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing professional social work services to individuals and families, promoting safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes through assessment, intervention, advocacy, and collaborative care planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify individual and family needs, risks, and appropriate interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and review person-centred care and support plans in collaboration with service users, families, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Provide therapeutic support, crisis intervention, advocacy, and practical guidance to individuals and families.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, community services, statutory agencies, and voluntary organisations to ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Safeguard vulnerable individuals by identifying welfare concerns and responding in line with relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional case records, assessments, reports, and documentation.
  • Attend and actively contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, reviews, and safeguarding meetings as required.
  • Support service users in accessing appropriate community resources, health services, housing, financial supports, and other relevant services.
  • Promote best practice while ensuring compliance with professional standards, organisational policies, and relevant Irish legislation.
  • Participate in service development, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

Essential Requirements

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with CORU.
  • Knowledge of Irish health and social care services, safeguarding practices, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, assessment, advocacy, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload while working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Experience working within health, community, disability, child and family, adult safeguarding, or related social care settings is desirable.
  • A full clean driving licence and access to transport may be required.
