Trend Technologies Ireland is a leading manufacturer of precision plastic injection moulded components and assemblies for the healthcare, medical technology and life sciences sectors. Based in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, our team plays a vital role in producing high-quality products that support some of the world's most innovative healthcare technologies.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Automation Technician to join our Engineering team. The role will operate on a 4-cycle day shift pattern with every second weekend rostered.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Automation Engineer, you will support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maximising equipment uptime, supporting production, and driving improvements in safety, quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automated manufacturing equipment to maximise reliability, uptime and production performance
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across robotics, vision systems, conveyors, assembly equipment and other automation systems, working closely with Production and Engineering teams
  • Support the commissioning, validation and implementation of new automation equipment, including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ and PQ activities
  • Monitor equipment performance, identify recurring issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance OEE, quality and safety
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with H&S, quality, regulatory and company requirements.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A third-level qualification in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is desirable
  • At least 2 years' experience in an automation role within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of robotics, automated assembly systems and machine safety controls
  • Experience with vision inspection systems and automated manufacturing equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
  • Experience working within an ISO-compliant or regulated manufacturing environment is desirable.
