Job Description

AllPro Recruitment are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Care Worker to join a residential service supporting young people (under 18 years) seeking international protection in Limerick City.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe, nurturing and child-centred care, supporting young people in their daily lives and helping them to develop positive outcomes. This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and the individual needs of young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, child-centred care and support to young people within the residential service.
  • Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Support young people with their daily routines, personal development, education and integration into the community.
  • Promote the rights, dignity, independence and welfare of each young person.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all young people in the service.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, Tusla, social workers, healthcare professionals, education providers and other relevant agencies.
  • Support young people in developing life skills and preparing for greater independence.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging or distressing situations using positive and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports and care documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and service development initiatives.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in line with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and organisational procedures.
  • Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all young people.

Essential Requirements

  • CORU registration as a Social Care Worker is essential.
  • Degree (Level 7 or above) in Social Care or a relevant discipline recognised by CORU.
  • Previous experience working in residential social care or with children and young people.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and child-centred approaches to care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to challenging situations.
  • Full, clean driving licence with access to a vehicle.

Desirable

  • Experience working with separated children, unaccompanied minors or young people seeking international protection.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 residential care setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant children's residential care legislation and regulations.
  • Training or experience in trauma-informed care, safeguarding or positive behaviour support.
  • Experience working with Tusla or other statutory agencies.
