Abnormal Load Escort Driver

Shay Murtagh Precast is seeking an experienced Abnormal Load Escort Driver to join our transport team, supporting the movement of specialist precast concrete products throughout Ireland and the UK.

This is a hands-on role working closely with our heavy haulage drivers and Transport Department to ensure abnormal and oversized loads are moved safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved routes and movement requirements.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Escorting abnormal and oversized loads throughout Ireland
• Working closely with HGV drivers, Transport Management and other members of the transport team
• Checking and following approved routes and movement instructions
• Assisting with route planning and identifying potential access or clearance issues
• Liaising professionally with site teams and other stakeholders where required
• Supporting safe vehicle movements into and out of sites, ports and other restricted locations
• Maintaining clear communication with drivers throughout movements
• Carrying out appropriate pre-movement checks and ensuring escort equipment is ready for use
• Supporting the Transport Department with the safe and efficient delivery of specialist precast products

What We're Looking For

• Full clean driving licence
• Previous experience escorting abnormal loads is an advantage
• Good understanding of road safety and safe vehicle movements
• Flexibility regarding working hours, including early starts, nights and weekends where movements require
• Good communication skills and the ability to work closely as part of a transport team
• Reliable, safety-conscious and professional approach
