The Decontamination Assistant – Endoscopy is responsible for supporting the safe and effective decontamination, reprocessing, storage and tracking of flexible endoscopes and associated reusable medical devices within the Endoscopy Unit. The role involves working under the supervision of the Decontamination Lead and CNM2 to ensure all equipment is processed in accordance with national guidelines, manufacturer instructions, infection prevention and control standards, and hospital policies. The CNM2 is responsible for the overall running of the PAC department in addition to the pre-operative nursing assessment of patients being prepared for surgical procedures. The role involves working closely with consultants, anaesthetists, the Day Surgery Unit, and Outpatients Department to ensure capacity within surgical services is safely maximised.
