Company:
Shay Murtagh Precast Ltd is a leading designer and manufacturer of precast and prestressed concrete products, supplying major projects throughout Ireland and the UK. Our extensive product range includes large concrete storage tanks, bridge beams, culverts, retaining walls, A-frame buildings, tunnel segments, lift cores, wastewater and rainwater-management products, and bespoke precast solutions designed to meet individual project requirements.
Across the Shay Murtagh Group, our capabilities extend from in-house design and engineering through manufacture, supply and project delivery. Within the utilities sector, Shay Murtagh Limited undertakes the supply, construction and installation of large concrete storage tanks and associated civil infrastructure. The Group also delivers significant precast packages for data centres, battery energy storage system (BESS) developments and other major civil, energy and infrastructure projects throughout Ireland and the UK.
Shay Murtagh Precast continues to secure major, high-profile projects, resulting in a strong pipeline of work and an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Manager to join our team and contribute to their successful delivery. The successful candidate should have an engineering or construction background, with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience, including setting-out and site experience, together with proven project-management capability.
Role Purpose:
The Construction Project Manager is accountable for the safe, commercially controlled and timely delivery of allocated projects from pre-construction and internal handover through design coordination, manufacture, logistics, site installation, commissioning and final close-out. The postholder will manage complex projects including large concrete storage tanks, lift cores, data-centre infrastructure and other bespoke precast and civil-engineering works.
Working closely with Commercial, QS, Design, Production, Logistics, Health and Safety, Quality and site-delivery teams, the Construction Project Manager will establish a clear delivery strategy and ensure that project scope, programme, design information, manufacturing requirements, resources, temporary works, lifting arrangements, RAMS, logistics and site-readiness activities are fully coordinated.
The Construction Project Manager will be the principal operational point of contact for clients, main contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders. They will maintain a clear view of programme, cost, risk, change and delivery performance across multiple projects, address issues before they affect key milestones and provide accurate, concise updates to the Construction Manager and senior management.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, sound judgement and a consistently high level of ownership, initiative and follow-through. The successful candidate must identify what needs to happen next, drive outstanding actions through to completion and make timely decisions without waiting for continuous direction. Where a matter requires additional technical, commercial or management authority, it must be escalated promptly with a clear assessment of the potential impact and a recommended course of action.
The role is based in Raharney and involves travel to project sites throughout Ireland and periodically to the UK. It is not intended to be permanently based in the UK. Routine UK site coverage will be supported by locally based engineering resources, while the Construction Project Manager will travel at key project stages and as delivery requirements dictate. UK travel is expected approximately every few weeks, although the frequency will vary depending on the project programme and any issues requiring direct project-management oversight.

· Act as the senior day-to-day contact for clients, main contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders, communicating professionally and protecting the company’s interests.
· Build effective relationships with clients and internal departments while dealing directly and constructively with difficult issues, conflicting priorities and changing requirements.
· Provide clear direction, support and accountability to site managers, engineers, supervisors, installation teams and subcontractors.
· Coordinate and mentor engineering and delivery personnel, including UK-based local engineering support, and ensure that roles, reporting lines and escalation routes are understood.
· Identify team competency and training needs, support the development of employees and promote consistent delivery standards across projects.

· Maintain a live view of project risks, opportunities, dependencies and contingency requirements and ensure that owners and actions are clearly assigned.
· Apply lessons learned from previous projects and recommend improvements to construction methods, planning, logistics, safety, quality and commercial control.
· Support standardisation of project plans, RAMS, lift-planning inputs, reporting and handover processes across the project-delivery function.
